The open face design provides constant surface cooling of the friction surface while carving, reducing heat build up.  A common source of failure with most conventional bladed router bits.  The unique carbide hair like design works as well in reverse rotation as it does forward for those using a reversible motor.  SABURR TOOTH carving burrs are rated up to 30,000 RPM's.  Any of the burrs shown are designed to be used on wood, high density urethane, and some plastics.  Many CopyCarver users report equal performance on soft stones like Soapstone and Alabaster.

Ball nose carving burrs offer you the large working face of a sphere with the side cutting ability of a cylinder shape.  Basically two carving burrs in one.  Perfect for high speed duplication using a Copy Carver.  Ball nose carving burrs leave the smoothest copy surface finish of any cutter shape.  No ridges or lines like those often left behind from using a flat tipped cylinder shape cutter. Great for initial bulk shaping or used as a final clean-up/leveling pass reducing the amount of hand sanding to the copy.  Then switching over to a smaller burr for areas where tighter detail is needed.  Each set includes a polished steel stylus machined to the cutting path diameter and shape of each carving burr.  Giving you an exact 1:1 final copy every time by leaving a pre-measured amount of extra material on the copy to allow for finish sanding. 

For those users wishing to have a little extra material on their copy for final detail/finishing, you can just wrap the stylus with a layer of electrical tape to compensate for a larger stylus of the same shape.  Another quick tip many carvers use is to dip the stylus in liquid rubber sold in any hardware store for dipping tool handles.  Apply a little car wax to the stylus and dip it a few times in the liquid rubber to build up a layer thickness you wish to add to your copy.  Then allow to dry overnight and you have a slip on/off cover to use when you want the extra stock on a copy.  You can make several slip on cover of various thicknesses to use as needed for a quick fix that is easy to install.   

Your Copy Carver can also be used with any standard router bit as well using the instructions included in the plans to make your own stylus.
